Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin's spokesman, told CNN Monday that Russia is "not afraid" of an interview given by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to independent Russian media.

On Sunday, Russia's media watchdog Roskomnadzor issued a warning to Russian news outlets not to broadcast or distribute an interview between Zelensky and a group of independent Russian journalists.

When questioned by CNN what Russia or Roskomnadzor were frightened of, Peskov answered, "[We] are not afraid."

"We have laws in existence," Peskov continued, "and it is critical not to disseminate anything that might constitute a violation of these laws."

Russian censorship law: Russia has signed a censorship law making it a criminal to disseminate "false" material, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The Russian government has not changed its stance.
