In the meantime it's a good idea to read up on the classes in Diablo 2 Resurrected, since they're the ones we'll be playing in the main. In a separate interview with gaming director Joe Shely, however, it was mentioned that this roster could expand in the future as well. After all, it's not like there's a permanent thing in Sanctuary.

The principal developers of Diablo 2 Resurrected have stressed that they don't want players to "feel as though they're paying to win" when the game releases next year.

In an earlier Diablo 2 Resurrected livestream(opens in new tab), game director Joe Shely, along with the game's associate director Joesph Piora, and community manager Adam Fletcher gave fans an update on all things Diablo 2 Resurrected, as well as providing an insight into how things will work prior to the game's release next summer.

During the livestream during the stream, the group discussed how to play the Diablo 2 Resurrected battle pass (around the 39:15 mark in the video below) along with the game's future seasons. "It's very important to us that we keep in mind those things you'd encounter in the battle pass," Piepiora added, "the way that they're powerful, yet fair and fair. We don't want to create situations in which players feel they can pay to win. "To be able to clearly differentiate in between battle passes and the seasons in Diablo 2 Resurrected the game's seasons, Piepiora said that "the season's adventure is the same present in Diablo 2 Resurrected, in the same manner as you did with Diablo 3." The chapter-based mechanic will give players different goals throughout the seasons and allows players to earn rewards in game on their own characters. "All of the seasonal content is available for free. The content is not tied to the battle pass itself," Shely adds.

To help clarify any confusion Shely explained that, in the event that Diablo 2 Resurrected launches on June 6, 2023, it will not be launched immediately following season one. "Season one will begin a few just a few weeks after the launch of the game, and when season one kicks off, everyone will be starting in the same way, so everyone will be on the same game," the developer said. The competitive aspects of Diablo 2 Resurrected (e.g. leader boards) are likely to show up in seasons therefore those who don't purchase early access to the D2R Ladder Items game won't have to be concerned about unfairness.
