Hands-On with Throne and Liberty: Exploring a World of Dynamic Combat and Beastly Transformations

Throne and Liberty, the upcoming MMORPG from NCSoft and Amazon Games, recently grabbed the spotlight at Summer Game Fest Play Days. We had the opportunity to Throne and Liberty Lucent delve into an early build of the Western version, experiencing the character creator, tutorial, and a glimpse of large-scale battles. Here's a closer look at what awaits players in the vast world of Solisium.

A Canvas for Personalized Heroes:

The character creation suite immediately impressed with its breadth of options. From facial features and hair styles to intricate details like iris patterns, players can customize their characters to a remarkable degree. This level of detail allows players to truly create avatars that reflect their personal preferences, surpassing the limitations of generic character creation tools often found in the genre.

First Steps in Solisium:

The opening moments of the game, reminiscent of New World's tutorial structure, guide players through the basics of movement, combat, and navigation. While the narrative element felt somewhat disjointed during this initial phase, it served its purpose of introducing the TL Lucent core mechanics.

Combat with a Tab-Targeting Twist:

Throne and Liberty employs a tab-targeting combat system, which may surprise some players familiar with the recent trend towards action-oriented combat in the MMORPG genre. While the core combat revolves around selecting and executing skills, the game introduces a unique defensive mechanic.
