In the course of this year's season, Jagex replaced the Old School RuneScape duel arena with a brand new 1v1 version, as the previous version was used to facilitate trade in real money (RMT) and other illegal activities. It's been a while since the change, smart players have already adjusted to OSRS gold the new format by using new strategies to make money fast which led the studio to issue warnings.

The new strategy is known as "chucking" that involves wagering massive sums of GP in a duel 1v1 which usually requires an intermediary to pay the prize pool that is padded to the person who won the duel. In recent times there have instances when one participant was fighting on behalf of another to get a share of the prize pool that is inflated.

"As you are aware the primary reason behind the elimination of the Duel Arena was to stop an activity that we believed was not in accordance to our regulations," said Jagex. "However we've observed that since the launch of the PvP Arena the rule-breaking actions have changed accordingly. These actions are basically akin to commission taking' and have become more prevalent in the past residents in Duel Arena." Duel Arena."

"We would like to make it certain that 'community chucking' either by hosting or taking part it is not permitted and infringes on rules of the Games of Chance section of our Game Rules," warned the studio. "This is the case regardless of whether the host gets tips or not. Additionally, any staking or duels with the assistance of a middleman is prohibited. We will pursue people and accounts who are involved in staking or throwing."

Another form of activity Jagex warns of is not in compliance with the game's terms of service is re-roll raffles. "A Re-roll Giveaway is a game where players participate, often for an expense, for the chance of winning some prize. After a certain number of participants have registered and the host has decided to select an unlucky winner among the entries," the studio explained. "After the winner has been selected the viewers are occasionally encouraged to make the host an offsite gift or tip - usually in the form real-world cash - to be able to re-roll the outcome of the "giveaway'. This could occur at any time as well as a potential infinite number of replays."

"These kinds of giveaways aren't allowed because they are in violation of the rules laid out within the Real World Trading section. Hosts of these types giveaways are liable to be subject to disciplinary actions against them. Giveaways are only accepted if they are managed with integrity, using basic mechanics, and are accessible to all," the studio maintained.

One of the changes that are coming into RuneScape in the coming year will be the death mechanic that has been promised overhaul that will dramatically reduce the costs of dying on the standard MMORPG. Traditionally dying in Gielinor meant you lost everything you owned, with the exception of those that you were protected from the day of death. The loss of items was a pain and expensive, however it also helped to keep the economy stable and costs in the right place.

Fast forward nearly 10 years later, and the gold sink that is caused due to the loss of objects upon death isn't as crucial as it was in the past. The result was that it was time to modify the death mechanics so that it makes it more lenient, particularly for those with the right equipment, who are more likely to lose important items.

When the new death system is in place all items that are added to the death system will be charged a minimum price of 0.1 percent. This will cut down the reclaim cost of certain items by as much as percent, and for Cheap OSRS GP others by as high as 96.7 percent. Parties will no longer have to give up their possessions to retrieve the items left behind by their fallen friends. To counteract the massive decrease in deaths and its impact on the game's econometrics, Jagex will be adding an additional 2% tax on any trades that exceed 50 coins.
