Let's start the Log with the ephemeris that marks this day in #history: In 1955, the Venezuelan Medical Federation promulgated March 10 as Doctor's Day in Venezuela, the date was chosen because it was the birth of Dr. José María Vargas, Independentist Doctor, founder of the Medical Society of Caracas, one of the founders of the first University of the republic, the Central University of Venezuela #UCV. He was also the First Rector of the UCV, Founder of the Faculty of Medicine at the UCV, and the first Civilian President of Venezuela.
#Vargas is a character that is interesting to me, I remember very much the surprise I found when they told me that in his youth diaries, before traveling to Europe to study and get a degree as a Doctor in Medicine, he complained bitterly of having been born in a land where that if you wanted to learn any science you had to find your teachers and books yourself, because professional people were valued very little, and it was an ordeal for someone like him who wanted to be a professional.
His term as President was very brief, besieged by a military uprising, almost forced to sign the resignation, he confronted one Carujo (one of the coup plotters) when he demanded that he resign and the dialogue that has gone down in history took place: Carujo rebuked him that he should not be President (the soldiers who won independence saw the newly created republic as a booty that belonged to them) "Doctor Vargas, the world belongs to the brave..." said Carujo as if that justified any outrage made by those who wield arms, "No, the world belongs to the just man. It is the good man, and not the brave, who has always lived and will live happily on earth and safe on his conscience" President Vargas replied, refusing to sign the resignation and leaving a sentence almost with biblical meaning before which the bumbling soldier could not reply anything.
Reporting personal things, today I bought some vegetables, the weather was cool and despite that I have less discomfort than other days in my legs, so walking a little was good for me. I've had a few blackouts and power outages, but nothing lasting many hours, so I'm better than other days. Otherwise, it has been a quiet day.
I wish you well, and that we can read each other another time.
