How Singapore’s stablecoin framework will shake up the crypto market
Singapore’s revised regulatory framework for single-currency stablecoins (SCS) will have a huge impact on the crypto market, especially in Asia. Here are some of the effects that I expect to see from this framework:
More demand and supply for SCS, as more issuers will seek to comply with MAS’ requirements and obtain the MAS-regulated label. This will increase the liquidity and diversity of SCS in the market, and potentially lower the fees and risks associated with them.
More users and investors to SCS, as they will benefit from the enhanced transparency, security, and stability of MAS-regulated stablecoins. This will increase the adoption and usage of SCS as a digital medium of exchange, and as a bridge between the fiat and digital asset ecosystems.
More innovation and competition in the stablecoin space, as more issuers will try to differentiate themselves from others by offering better services, features, and incentives to their customers. This will improve the quality and efficiency of SCS, and foster more collaboration and integration among different stablecoin platforms.
